The best selling guide to O'ahu... Oahu Revealed "Thank you for the awesome maps. This was the best vacation ever for our family because of them. My husband and I usually get into huge fights because we get lost while on vacation. This usually trickles down so that everyone is mad the whole trip. This time everyone was happy because we never go lost." |
Waikiki Gateway (800) 247-1903 or (808) 955-3741 2070 Kalakaua Ave.
186 rooms, pool, free hi-speed in rooms, business center, Nintendo, valet parking. A 17-story tower that's tapered, so rooms and lanais get smaller the higher you go, and there are some lanais on the top floor. You're nearing the fringes of Waikiki, and it's a 15-minute walk to the beach, so the distant views are hard to get too excited about. You stay here to sleep, not to frolic at the hotel. Continental breakfast is free. Parking is valet only at $15, which is cheap for Waikiki. At press time they had some rooms renovated (some not), and you'd probably want to avoid the unrenovated rooms, which feel pretty worn. Overall, you can do better elsewhere. Rooms (approx. 294-372 sq. ft.) are $133-$150, kitchenettes (294-372 sq. ft.) are $189-$200 and the top floor (414 sq. ft.) is $350. |
