Oahu Revealed - Sheraton Waikiki

1,637 rooms, 2 pools, 2 spas, free 24-hour fitness room, 2 restaurants, 20 shops, 19 conference rooms, business center, room service, hi-speed Internet access in rooms, free room safes, Wi-Fi in common areas, day spa, coffee makers with free daily coffee. Although there are bigger resorts, this 31-story tower is the biggest single hotel building in all Hawai'i. It's so big you can actually get lost in the hallways, which keep going and going and going. You can do a lot of walking at this sprawling resort, which can feel pretty busy. The oceanfront rooms directly facing the beach are simply glorious, looking down onto the beach and the reef where turtles feed at dusk. The renovated pool that they share with the Royal Hawaiian is now a fun playground for young and old alike with a water slide, fountains and nightly entertainment. An infinity-edge, adults-only pool was planned at press time. You might want to avoid what they classify as "oceanview" if they face the Royal Hawaiian on lower floors. Oceanview seems too generous for some of those rooms. Don't pay for mid view rooms here. Either spluge for the best or save by getting the cheapest views and pocket the savings. (City view or mountain view? Who cares?)

You have charging privileges at any of the four Waikiki Sheratons. Parking is $20 ($26 for valet). The rooms are on the small side but are clean and modern, and their location is fantastic. There are few resorts in Waikiki that feel this cozy with the beach.

Overall, you'll love this if you are jonesin' to be near the beach. You won't love it if you're looking for tranquility. Rooms (225-300 sq. ft.) are $380-$745, suites (875-2,224 sq. ft.) are $1,075-$3,200.
