The best selling guide to O'ahu... Oahu Revealed "My wife and I would like to thank you for your wonderful series of "Revealed" books. We have recently moved to Oahu. We, of course, have one for each island and, as we have quite a few guests, we have copies of Oahu revealed in every car car and every bedroom. I wish every guidebook was as thorough and intellectually honest as your series. Thanks again." |
Pacific Beach Hotel (800) 367-6060 or (808) 923-4511 2490 Kalakaua Ave.
837 rooms, lap pool, spa, valet parking, hi-speed Internet access in rooms, 3 restaurants, coffee makers with free daily coffee, oceanfront rooms have microwaves, tennis court, room service, small day spa, about a dozen shops, 12 conference rooms, business center, lanais on most. Two buildings, 17 and 38 stories tall. Across the street from Kuhio Beach Park. Rooms are clean and reasonably sized but unremarkable overall. However, the views from their oceanfront rooms are stunning. Their best "city views" are above the 18th floor. Showers have hand-held shower heads--unusual for a Waikiki hotel. The hotel lacks a design theme; right now it looks very dated and busy with mis-matching patterns everywhere. Their "fitness room" is a 24 Hour Fitness Super Club ($12 daily pass), which overlooks the ocean--pretty inspiring. One of their restaurants, Oceanarium, has a giant aquarium next to the tables. Parking is $15 for self and $19 for valet. Connecting rooms available. Rooms (approx. 328 sq. ft.) are $289-$469, suites (656-1,500 sq. ft.) are $700-$2,200. The rack rates are way overpriced, but they admit that few pay them. |
