We will definitely recommend your books to anyone traveling to the "paradise" state. Oh Yeah, any tips on getting the red mud stains from he Manoa Falls trail out of your favorite shorts. Beautiful place!!" |
Outrigger Reef on the Beach (800) 688-7444 or (808) 923-3111 2169 Kalia Rd.
790 rooms, pool, 3 spas, free 24-hour fitness room, business center, room service, valet only parking, 3 restaurants, 14 shops, 4 conference rooms, business center, coffee makers with free daily coffee, free room safes, free hi-speed Internet access, free local and long distance calls to mainland, Nintendo, lanais on most. Three buildings; the tallest is 17 stories. Overall, the resort design doesn't have a peaceful, Hawaiian feel. The pool area can be insanely busy. Their lobby area has a similar level of franticness. The timeshare salesmen in the lobby can be particularly annoying. Just look at them and mumble something that sounds like a foreign language to get them off your back. Their Shorebird Restaurant is a good place for a breakfast buffet. Parking is $25 (valet only). Rooms facing the Waikiki Shore are uncomfortably close to that building. You can practically reach over and peel the paint off their walls. The resort has a hard-to-put-into-words annoying feel. On the up side, part of the resort borders the beach, so you won't walk far, and there are lots of Hawaiian cultural demonstrations. Room renovations are under way, and they had planned to decrease the number of guest rooms by combining some, so we will review it again after they are finished. Rooms (240-384 sq. ft.) are $289-$609, suites (488-1,300 sq. ft.) are $769-$3,399. |
