521 rooms, pool and spa, hi-speed Internet access in rooms, Wi-Fi in lobby, 24-hour business center, day spa, coffee maker with free coffee daily, free 24-hour fitness/hospitality room, free laptop-sized room safes, valet-only laundry, golf course (well…sort of), room service, 2 restaurants, valet parking. This resort is set apart from the rest of Waikiki. Located at the extreme edge of Waikiki where the Ala Wai Canal meets the ocean, odds are that whenever you want to wander around Waikiki, you'll either take their free shuttle into the main area, the public bus or drive and battle for a parking place. Same goes for going to the beach. On the other hand, it's close to the massive Ala Moana Shopping Center--a 10-minute walk away--and there are shopping-starved neighbor island residents who like to stay at the Hawai'i Prince for this very reason.

The resort is composed of twin 33-story towers. All rooms face the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a view dominated by the Ala Wai Boat Harbor below you, which is quite picturesque. The buildings are very nicely maintained and appointed and the staff accommodating. Rooms feel smaller than their stated 400 sq. ft., and only 5th floor rooms have lanais. The bathrooms, however, are very spacious with separate showers and tubs (maybe that's where much of the square footage went). They claim to be the only resort in Waikiki with their own golf course. The fine print with that claim is that it's near 'Ewa Beach--20 miles away. (Pretty slick move by their marketing department, though, isn't it?)

Overall, their location is probably a negative. Paying $390 and up per night to stay at a nice resort, then getting on the bus every time you want to go to the beach or eat in Waikiki can be a bit deflating. It's a nice resort, but you're paying beachfront prices…without the beach. Valet parking is $21, self-parking is $15.

Rooms (400 sq. ft.) are $390-$520, suites (839-2,038 sq. ft.) are $610-$2,500.
