The best selling guide to O'ahu... Oahu Revealed "We wanted to write and tell you what a great job you did with both the Maui Revealed and Oahu Revealed books. We just got back from our 10-day vacation today (bummer! because it's cold here in Tennessee). We have been to both islands before, but using your books on this trip, we saw a lot of things we missed the first time (like taking the "unimproved" road beyond Hana as just one example). Your directions were so easy to follow, and your recommendations were 99% on target!" |
Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki (800) 923-2620 or (808) 941-7777 2040 Kuhio Ave.
296 rooms, pool, restaurant, hi-speed Internet access in rooms, 24-hour business center, coffee makers on request. Two 1960s buildings, the tallest being 19 floors, on a pretty busy corner. Not much in the views department--this is a utilitarian place to stay. You sleep here; you don't hang around. And without a pretty good discount, it's hard to justify staying here since you've got a 15-minute walk to the beach. Get a cheaper price or go elsewhere. This place is popular with groups (who presumably get good rates) and is always busy. Kitchenettes are available in suites. Parking is $15. The lanais have high cement railings, so there's no way to sit and enjoy whatever view you may have. All rooms have showers only, no tubs. Rooms (405 sq. ft.) are $165-$195, suites (810-2,439 sq. ft.) are $225-$925. |
