59 units, 2 pools, bbq, free Wi-Fi, 2 tennis courts, air conditioning, free room safes, daily maid service (except Sundays and maybe less during certain times of the year), lanais on all. Don't be confused by the name; they're not in the town of Ma'alaea. Landscapers do a great job; the resort looks clean and well maintained. Rooms are upscale and very comfortable. There are 8 buildings scattered around the 5 acres and all seem to have nice views. Buildings A, D and H have glorious oceanfront locations. Compared to their more institutional-looking neighbors, this resort really embraces the ocean. Ma'alaea Surf isn't cheap, but it's upscale for Kihei. Rooms are large. 1/1s (759 sq. ft.) are $285-$335, 2/2s (1,100 sq. ft.) are $380-$450. With the 2/2s there are townhouse (two-story) layouts and the much preferable one-story ground floor units. All units are non-smoking. 3-night minimum.
