She has dedicated her exhibition to raising awareness for Habitat for Humanity's ReStore in Wailuku, where building materials are donated and offered for sale at affordable prices, which generates the funding for Habitat for Humanity's local building program. Opera Rocks! conductor Stuart Chafetz returns with an expanded orchestra including 30 Honolulu Symphony musicians, to join the Maui Concert Chorus directed by Celia Canty, and internationally renowned singers, Lea Woods Friedman and Ryan Taylor as soloists perform Verdi, Rossini and Leonard Bernstein. 2pm at Maui Arts & Cultrural Center. Night at the Reef Maui Ocean Center celebrates International Year of the Reef in 2008 by launching a new program, inviting the public to visit the aquarium's Living Reef exhibits after-hours. Volunteers from local eco-organizations will be present with information on the state of Hawaii's coral reef eco-systems. Pupu and beverages will be available for purchase. 6pm-8pm. International Festival of Canoes master carvers from across the Pacific come together with Hawaii's carvers to create real canoes & tikis from wood logs, daily 9am-5pm on Front Street in Lahaina. Demos of old-style surfboard, drum and thatched house making are also featured with cultural arts lessons, performances & Polynesian crafts fair at public locations in Lahaina. Over the closing weekend, watch Parade of Canoes down Front St. then head to Kamehameha Iki beach park for ancient Hawaiian ceremony & sunset launch of completed canoes, followed by island food, music and dance festival until 10pm.
