Calendar of Events on Kauai
In our first edition of The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, we listed a calendar of local events for the island. It was a colossal waste of time! Things change so often in Hawaii that we couldn't keep it current. The web fixes that. Don't get me wrong. Some of the events listed below will not occur or will change time or place. That's because decisions about these things are made quite capriciously in the islands, often the day of the event. We'll change this page daily if we have to, but you can't bet your life on the timeliness of these events. Nonetheless, if you're interested in attending a local event, these might be worth checking into.

Kauai Museum in Lihue offers free admission as well as rotating exhibits and classes throughout the month. Call the Museum at (808) 245–6931 for additional information.

Sunset Cinema "Theater under the stars" a traveling outdoor movie theater. Doors open 6pm, movie time is 7:45pm. Huge inflatable screen, theater quality sound and a powerful projector showing family to surf to art house movies. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and coolers, creating a Kauai-style Dinner Theater. For information, movies, times and locations call (808) 246-8830.
July 4
19th Annual Concert in the Sky at Vindinha Stadium in Lihu'e. Lots of activities, fun zone for the kids and entertainment before the fireworks show. Gates open at 2pm with continuous live entertainment ranging from hula halau to live music. Tickets in advance available at all Big Save Stores & Menehune Food Marts and at the gate on the day. Advance admission price is $10 for adults; $5 for keiki (children) 6-12 yrs; under 5 free. Call (808) 245-7277.
July 10-13 & 17-20
Hawaii Children's Theatre Presents: Disney's "The Aristocats" and "Into The Woods" two live stage musicals performed at Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center in Puhi. Shows for Aristocats are July 10,11,12, and 13. Tickets $8 / Shows for Into The Woods are July 17,18,19, and 20. Tickets $10. Call (808) 246-8985 for ticket information.
July 19-27
Koloa Plantation Days Celebration including over 18 family-oriented events showcasing the area's diverse cultural and historical significance. The event showcases Koloa's rich and diverse heritage through our numerous and varied events which are cultural, educational and recreational in nature. Kauai All Girls Rodeo fast paced action at beautiful outdoor arenas as they compete in barrel racing, pole bending, steer undecorating, breakaway roping and dally team roping. Admission is free. There's ample parking, a lunch wagon serving local favorites. Call (808) 639-3091.
August 28-31
Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair a petting zoo, livestock show, floral demonstrations and exhibits, food booths, arts and crafts along with games and rides. Continuous live local entertainment. Admission charge. Thursday and Friday from 6pm-midnight and Saturday and Sunday from noon-midnight. Call for ticket information at (808) 639-8432.
