The best selling guide to the Big Island... Hawaii "My boyfriend and I used your books to explore secluded places on Kauai and the Big Island and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We relied on your knowledge of activities and restaurants and had the best time of our lives...Thank you both for your love of the islands of Hawaii and for sharing that with us. It has made our experiences there memorable." |
Kona Seaside Hotel (800) 367-7000 or (808) 329-2455 75-5646 Palani Rd. ![]() 218 rooms, 2 pools, coin-op laundry, Wi-Fi, empty fridge. This hotel is located across the street from Kailua Bay in the heart of Kailua-Kona. The buildings, built over time several decades ago, are immaculate but very dated. Tidiness is a welcome obsession here. The simple grounds are constantly groomed; the rooms are acceptable. You won’t find water-slides, glass elevators or an atrium the size of Kaua‘i, but you will find a pleasant hotel with a central location and fairly reasonable rates staffed by friendly folks. If that’s what you are looking forstop looking. Parking is $5. Standard rooms in the oldest building are $120. Superior rooms are $130, deluxe rooms are $140, and kitchenettes are $170. Tower rooms with an even number on the high floors have distant ocean views. If you consider that few pay the rack rate, it might be a Solid Gold Value. |
