Every guidebook writer longs for more space. Even though our book, Hawaii The Big Island Revealed is 308 pages (the 5th edition), there is always so much more we wish we could convey about many subjects, including Kilauea Volcano. Here you'll find photos that we weren't able to fit into the book, as well as links to volcano-related sites that caught our eye. And remember, unlike most other photos of the volcano you may see on the web, these photos and all the photos in the book were taken by us in accessible areas. We didn't get special permission to go to special places. When we took these shots we were surrounded by visitors just like you during periods when Madam Pele was in a generous mood.
